The way there: On Tuesday, June 4th, one of the first thunderstorms of the year had started to approach. I checked the weather, and saw that the storm had not quite reached the twin cities yet. I decided it was a great opportunity to take a moody photograph. I headed on a ten minute bike ride, mostly downhill, to find myself at Steiger Lake in Victoria. I was hoping to stay for about fifteen minutes, and leaving with just enough time to head back home before the storm.

Taking the photo: One big gust if wind was all it took for me to realize that the storm was just minutes away. I knew I could only take a few photos, and hope for the best. I stepped on the dock, and immediately knew what I was going to do. I framed this photo with the dock popping out from the bottom center of the frame, to draw you into the trees, then into the clouds. I had just enough time to take only eleven photos before the storm hit.

The way back/Editing the photo: My adventure home was uphill, adding about 3-5 minutes to the trip. The rain was refreshing as I made my way home, but not for long. It soon started to poor, and I even saw lightning strike about a mile away. At this point I was tired and drenched. I finally made it home, and began the editing process. The original photo was under exposed and over-all very grey. I punched the greens up, and made the water pop out. In photoshop I added additional clouds, to make the image more moody. The full sequence of the editing process is pictured below.
