Holy Family Track and Field participated in their first outdoor meet of the year on Thursday at Rockford High School. Both the boys at girls teams got off to a successful start.

New team members Nick Lynch (10), Brendan O’Connor (10), Jacob Zay (10), and Dominic Phillips (10) dominated the boys 4×100 finishing in first place by several meters. Additionally, The girls 4×100 made up of Evelyn Willenbring (10), Alexis Pricco (11), Emily Willenbring (12), and Emma Terris (11) also finished first.

The girls throwing team had a very successful meet with each member setting a personal record. Corrie Day (12) threw 84’7” in discus.

Both of the jumping events have a great blend of promising new students and returners. Nathan Tinucci (9), Dominic Phillips (10), and Joe Olson (11) will be people to keep your eyes on in the long jump.

As for girls long jumpers, returners Emily Willenbring and Casey Krasowski (11) are joined by new jumpers Grace Conroy and Anna Johnson. At Thursday’s meet, Emily Willenbring re-broke her school record of 16’8.5” in long jump with a jump of 16’9.5”.

Coach Ronald Hoffman said that this is “One of the strongest starts our team has had in a long time.” He also added that the last time HF swept the girls and boys 4×100 was back in 2008. This year Holy Family Track and Field has a potentially to reach new heights and become even more successful than they have in years past.
