Tennis falls to Delano 3-4 in close match

The tennis team faced off against a competitive Delano Tiger squad yesterday afternoon. In the past, Delano has been a very tough conference rival, defeating Holy Family in their matchup last year.

Before the match, Lindsey Harris said, “We feel we can win even though we have struggled with them in the past. Delano lost some good seniors from last year and I am confident in our team.”

The girls put up a good fight but fell just short, losing 3-4. Though they lost, the girls found some success through their single players and a doubles pair. In 1st singles, Sophie Lynch was able to grind her way to victory, winning (6-2, 6-7, 10-8) in a close match.

Freshman Ally Agerland once again contributed a win, cruising 6-1, 6-4. Finally, the doubles pair of Emma Terris and Molly Garin found their stride and won (6-4, 6-4). The match could have gone either way and Holy Family has proved to be a legitimate contender once again this year.

The tennis team will look to bounce back against Roseau on Friday at 3.
