Girls Lacrosse headed to sections
As the team heads into sections, the girls lacrosse team has a 4th seat in their section. With a record of 6-7, the team is led by captains Leigh Steiner, Molly Kalb, and Mary New. The team plays Shakopee on Thursday at home, at 7:00pm.
On Tuesday of last week, the girls finished out their regular season with a strong win against rival Chaska, with a score of 17-9. Leigh Steiner, Molly Garin, and Brielle Bornhorst led the team with 3 goals each, along with goals by Molly Kalb, Alex Pellicci, Lindsay Harris, Mackenzie Lamp, Claire Requet and Kathryn Dahlin. Junior Leigh Steiner also had 27 draw controls, her highest of the season.
With a strong last regular season game, the team prepares for their first game in sections against the 7-5 Shakopee. Defender Claire Melander states “I think that the team is keeping positive minds, and that we are remembering that we have the ability to accomplish anything that we set our minds to.” The girls hope to take a win on Thursday and move on in the next round of sections.
