2012 – The last time Holy Family Fire Football reached the state tournament final. The year that still lingers in the minds of the Holy Family Football program. After a disappointing 4-5 record in 2017, Holy Family is looking for a major bounce back this upcoming season.

The Fire will be returning with 14 offensive and defensive starters from last season and will be looking to take their past experiences and turn them into production for this upcoming season. Holy Family will have a senior-dominated roster under new Head Coach Tim Triplett, formally from St. Thomas University.

The seniors have been looking forward to this season since freshman year. Starting senior TE/OLB Ryan Bowlin stated his aspirations for the upcoming season: “Freshman year we were able to put together a 10-0 undefeated season, so we are hoping that means this is the year for us. We are putting in the work as a team and are really excited for the fall, and hope to get back to the Prep Bowl for Holy Family this season.”

Last season, the Fire were without their leading rusher and receiver, Brendan O’Connor. Brendan put together a stellar sophomore season but was unable to play his junior year due to a collarbone injury that he suffered in a scrimmage a few weeks before the season. It was not easy for Brendan to miss his entire junior football season. Brendan elaborated on his injury and how it’s helped propel him into the upcoming season: “It was extremely difficult seeing my teammates on the field last year and not being able to play with them, so I am very excited to be able to get back out there with all of them next season.”

Although Holy Family lost an accomplished and successful head football coach and teacher, Mr. Dave Hopkins, the team is not willing to suffer through a “transition year”. The Fire plan to come back this fall in full force with Head Coach Tim Triplett by their side. This is a team ready to win and excited to reach their full potential.

Stay tuned and come on out to Fire Football games this 2018 fall season!
