Stan the Man: Remembering a Legend
Stan Lee’s death is very untimely and people all around the world are mourning. He was a big part of my childhood as I would often see him in my favorite superhero movies growing up and he helped co-create Spider-Man, the Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Black Panther, the X-Men, Ant-Man, Iron Man, and Thor. Lee has awards such as being in the Jack Kirby hall of fame, earning the National Medal of Arts awarded by President George W. Bush, and being on the Hollywood walk of Fame. Lee has also appeared in many cameos for movies that he helped to create from the first X-Men movie in 2000 to his most recent appearance in Venom in 2018. Stan Lee’s impact on fans can be tracked all the way back to when he created “Stan’s soap box” where he would address the readers and sign off with “Excelsior.” His work also includes charity through “The Stan Lee Foundation” which is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide access to literacy, education and the arts throughout the United States. Stan Lee will always be remembered for his Excelsior work as a writer and as a person and he will always be a part of my life.
