Girls Basketball Win Streak Hits 12
The Holy Family Girls basketball team played Southwest Christian Tuesday night, a section game. The Fire came into the game riding an 11 game win streak, looking to keep it going.
They wasted no time in continuing their dominant play. Holy Family got up early and never looked back. The first half saw the Fire hold Southwest Christian to just 8 first half points. The offense of the Fire was also dominant in the first half as they scored 36 first half points to take a 36-8 lead into half.
The lock-down defense of Holy Family continued in the second half as not a single Southwest Christian player finished with more than 5 points. Grace Elander finished with 16 points to lead the scoring for the fire. Leigh Steiner had 10 and Julia Geurs finished with 8.
The final score was Holy Family 59 Southwest Christian 22
Senior Captain Julia Geurs had this to say about her team’s dominate 12 game win streak, 7 of which came by 20+ points: “I think with our great chemistry, ability to push the ball, efficiency in transition and strong defense we will be able to continue to keep this win streak alive”.
The Fire will try to improve the win streak to 13 on Friday, January 10th away against Hutchinson.
