Holy Family Fire Hosts WCC Track Meet

Holy Family hosted Orono and Hutchinson in a Wright County Conference Triangular on Tuesday. The day saw many high place finishes and PR’s for the Fire Squad.

Grace Murphy led the way in scoring for the fire, winning both the long jump and the triple jump. Murphy jumped distances of 15 feet, 5 1/4 inches in the long jump and 30 feet, 3 1/2 inches in the triple jump.

Jakob Lenzmeier and Carson Liebeg both finished 4th in their field events. Lenzmeier jumped 5 feet, 4 inches in high jump and Liebeg reached the 33 feet, 2 inches mark in triple jump.

Junior Captain Seth Thompson had a strong showing in his field events, coming away with a first place victory in shot put (42 feet, 1 inch) and a 2nd place finish in discus (128 feet, 3 inches).

Rounding off the field event place-winners was Logan Paulsen who took home 2nd in discus with a throw of 77 feet, nine inches, and a 3rd place finish in shot put with a throw of 26 feet, 2 1/2 inches.

The Fire had top finishers on the track as well. Captains Zyler Niece and Ellie Marschall both finished 3rd in the 1600 meter run with times of 4:54.29 and 6:03.29 respectively. Niece would also finish 4th in the 800 meter run (2:19.88).

Connor Chalmers led the way for the fire in the 200 meter dash, finishing 3rd with a time of 24.52 followed by Joey Richelsen in 4th place (24.76). Dylan Ehlers achieved a 4th place finish in the 400 meter dash (59.68).

My-Linh Pavelka finished 4th place for Holy Family in the 100 meter (14.34).

Rounding off the individual events was Tyler Franck, ending the 3200 meter as the runner up with a time of 11:09.40.

The boys 4×200 for Holy Family also found success, finishing in 2nd with a time of 1:40.86.

Overall it was a very successful home meet for Holy Family with many high place finishes in both the field events and on the track.
