Mortal Kombat 11: Review

Mortal Kombat 11 is the newest installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise by Netherealm studios. It is a fighting game that is the most fun when playing with friends or against others online, but there is an extensive story mode as well. The story is pretty short compared to other games and will take around 4-6 hours depending on what difficulty or how it takes to complete certain fights. The story picks up right where the last game left off and introduces a new villain that has been revealed to be the mastermind behind all of the past games. The story was very entertaining and engaging and even challenging at times, especially the final boss.

As I said before, though, the game is the most fun when fighting against friends or online opponents. Each character in the game has customizable variations with different looks and combos that you can choose. This has a downside though because with this comes microtransactions that are available. I saw an article that said that it either takes over 3000 hours to unlock everything or 6000 dollars which is very annoying for players who are completionists because there is a likely chance that you will never get the certain skin or equipment piece for your favorite characters. Other than that, the fighting is very satisfying and the combos make you feel amazing when you hit one or string multiple together. Playing against online opponents is more difficult than I thought and I have often gotten demolished when playing against very experienced players who have been playing these games for a long time, but this makes winning much more satisfying because it shows how your skills have improved in the game.

All in all, Mortal Kombat 11 is a very fun game that proves to be another fun installment in the franchise, and I can recommend it for fans of fighting games who don’t care about customization or microtransactions and don’t mind very intense and graphic violence. But for more casual fans, I would suggest waiting until the price goes down and until all of the new characters come out.
