2019-20 Girls Basketball Preview
Last year was a historic year for the girls basketball program at Holy Family, claiming the state consolation championship. The 5 seniors of Leigh Steiner, Julia Geurs, Grace Conroy, Anna Vakulskas, and Grace Murphy lead a team that had never seen success like this before. This year, with all 5 gone, the only returning starter will be senior captain Grace Elander. The guard averaged a second on the team best 9.9 points per game. The other seniors on the team will be a duo players the can excel in both the guard and forward position. Allie Jansen, with 4.8 PPG last year, and Abbey Fink who averaged 4.5. Starting at point guard this year will be Nicole Bowlin. Playing on Chanhassen as an 8th grader, Bowlin was the 6th person on team last year, but still scored 6.6 PPG. Sharpshooting sophomore guards Lucy Hertel and Reagan Cizek will both be working to get into the rotation this year, as time last year for the two was limited. Junior Center Katherine Wise will be a force in paint this year, as she will be another player trying to get rotation minutes. As just a 7th grader last year, Sophie Zay is looking to breakout this year and come off the bench in most games. Finally, freshman forward Sophi Hall, playing for the AAU team MN Fury will be a new key addition.
