Without Fechko, Boys Hockey Scrambles To Fill In The Blank
After missing the last 2 games do to illness, Arizona State commit and sophomore Trey Fechko was not placed on the section roster by coach Noel Rahn, meaning he is done for the season. With 18 goals and 17 assists this year, Fechko has engraved his position as one of the best sophomores in the state. As the boys hockey team travels to play Chaska on Thursday, all eyes will be on Fechko’s former line mates Lucas Jorgenson and Nick Blood, as the 2 have combined for 68 points this season. Chaska heralds Wisconsin commit Shane Lavelle, as well as Colorado College commit Max Burkholder. The 2, plus freshman star Jimmy Snuggerud, are looking for a deep playoff push. HF and Chaska, along with top 15 teams in the state Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, and Prior Lake, will all be fighting for one state bid through the next week. For the Fire, hard hitting defenders Spencer Lewin and Jaden Anderson, along with quicker, more fluid defensemen Bishop Schugel, Luke Roelofs, and Noel Rahn have a tall task to shut down Lavelle and Co. Goaltender Dylan Halliwill has been brilliant at times this season, and needs to have the games of his life through the next 7 days. Junior forwards Ben Reddan, Grant Limke, Charlie Lindberg, Nick Strand, and Mark Lund must show up big this postseason to make up for the loss of Fechko. Also, look for Sophomores Jake Cameron, Mark Rahn, and Ryder Ferguson to tally ice time.
