The Holy Family Nordic Ski team kicked off the 2021 season on January 4th. Here is an interview with Junior captain Kenzie Pavelka  about what’s in store for the upcoming season.

Q: How has Covid-19 impacted your season?

A: We have to practice in two different pods, and each pod has different start and end times. We have to wear masks all the time, even outside. We also have to be 6 feet apart from people in our pod and 12 feet apart from people in the other pod.

Q: What are you most excited about for this upcoming season?

A: I am excited to get to know the new skiers better.

Q: What are the team’s goals for this season?

A: For this year, because we haven’t really been able to get in good shape before races, I believe we are focusing on getting better technique and having fun! Overall just being grateful for having a season this year.

Q: How is the team looking this year?

A: The team is very fun and dedicated. We have a lot of talented skiers, and everyone works hard.

Q: What is the best part about being a member of the Nordic ski team?

A: The atmosphere is super supportive and everyone helps each other out. I really like that the coaches are supportive of skiers at all levels. The team feels like a family.

Q: What is the hardest part?

A: Sometimes after a long day at school, it’s hard to have a good attitude while skiing, but once you get in the swing of things at practice its very fun.

The Nordic team’s first meet is set to take place on Wednesday, January 20th, at Como Park in Saint Paul.
