Cross Country Season Thus Far

This 2022 Holy Family Cross Country season has started in a great direction with both boys’ and girls’ varsity teams and junior varsity teams staying competitive. The captains this year are Dylan Spalding, Aidan Storm, Ava Mettler, and Dani Sutcliffe. They are looking forward to competing this year with a full roster. This year the group started their training in Duluth, and began their season at the Northwoods Invitational for their first meet. The varsity girls’ team had a top time of 14:07.37 and finished seventh overall. The boys’ Varsity team finished eighth overall with a top time of 11:54.11. Then on September 8th, they competed at Fridley High School which hosted “The Peach Run”. There, they secured a top 3 finish as a boys’ and girls’ team. There is a lot of optimism for this year and hopes for establishing a foundation that leads to more success in the years to come. Ava Mettler, one of the senior captains says, “My goal for the team is to have fun while running. Most people think of running as not fun to do, so that would be a goal for me as a captain”. Overall, this year seems very promising for the cross country team. Make sure that you come and support the group at their next meet!
