Dance Team Going to State
On February 17-18, the Holy Family Dance team performed at State competition for kick and jazz. This is the first time in school history that Jazz and Kick have made it to State as they recently moved to AA. With their coaches Megan Wiesler, Brynna Ringham, Tianna Kroll, and Payton Soppeland. Jazz placed 5th in AA with their “I Have Nothing” routine. Kick placed 9th in AA with their “Super Bowl Halftime Show” routine.
Isabelle Paulson, one of the captains of the Fire Dance team this year, spoke about the season: “I think the season was amazing! We are so happy with the results from both our JV and Varsity teams. We are also pleased to have added so many members to our HFDT family. The season has been so much fun and I am proud of all the work that all of our routines put out on the floor each weekend.” When asked to describe the experience of performing at State, Isabelle explained, “The experience was amazing getting to dance on the Target Center floor. It’s such a cool environment. It feels as if you’re in a bubble while a giant crowd surrounds you.”
Isabelle’s third explanation reveals the rituals the team does before going out to perform,“Before we perform, we always listen to our hype song playlist and visualize ourselves dancing to our songs, and we always hug everyone on the team wishing each other good luck,” she says. Finally, Isabelle acknowledges, “We feel amazing and proud of our results. We are so happy to have placed 5th for Jazz with the tough competition in class AA. We are also so incredibly happy to have placed 9th for Kick as it is our first time making it to State in this category.”
