The fumes of hairspray sting the nose, outrageous neon colors blind the eyes, the scent of burnt hair from crimping irons, acid-washed jeans pushing the boundaries of fashion, ankles blistering from the tight high-top Converse, and everybody is ready to cut it “footloose.” Gnarly, rad, bodacious, and totally tubular are just a few adjectives to describe the atmosphere of the recent 80’s-theme father daughter dance. On Sunday, January 28th, the Chaska Event Center transformed into the nostalgia scene of the 1980s. Daughters ninth to twelfth grade grabbed their fathers for dinner and a night of throwback boogieing.
As high-school students navigate their busy schedules, it’s easy to take their parents for granted, who just want to spend quality time with them before they spread their wings and go off to college. Fathers especially stand as pillars of security, strength, and emotional support for their daughters.
They work hard to raise confident, strong, and happy young ladies, whom they love so much. “This was a night I will never forget: it was so fun seeing people having a great time with their fathers and creating lifelong memories,” said senior Jocelyn Fette. This night on the dance floor served as a reminder of family bonds and created memories that will last a lifetime.
