With Valentine’s Day upon us, let’s look at some of Holy Family’s strongest couples. Seniors Ava Hopper and Cullen Flannery, a couple that are thick as glue, are a pair that will make you smile when you see them walking down the hallway. Before high school, Ava attended Eden Prairie Public Schools. She decided to come to Holy Family two weeks before school started. Cullen attended St. Huberts before arriving at Holy Family. Ava and Cullen’s relationship blossomed during their freshman year. Freshman year looked a lot different for them as COVID was still lingering in the air. Masks were mandatory to wear, and making connections with people was difficult. Despite all these setbacks, somehow Ava and Cullen still found each other.
Interviewer: How did you two meet?
Ava: I was hanging out with my best friend, Gabby Legg, one day and we were bored so we invited some friends over. I asked Cullen if he wanted to come over and he said yes. He and some of his other friends ended up coming over as well.
Interviewer: What made you interested in Cullen?
Ava: Cullen is super outgoing, funny, nice. He wasn’t awkward and made me really happy.
Interviewer: What is a favorite memory you have together?
Ava: Going to Florida at Cullen’s grandparents’ condo. His whole family was there, including his aunts, uncles, and cousins. The condo was located on Sanibel Island and there were bikes that we could ride. We biked around on the island, and went to look at the parrots that are around Jerry’s grocery store.
Interviewer: Where do you see your relationship in a year?
Ava: Continuing our relationship into college.
Next, we ask Cullen.
