The future is a scary topic, especially for high schoolers, but the options are not as overwhelming as they initially seem. After graduating from Holy Family, students typically choose one of four major destinations: a 2 or 4-year university, trade school, the workforce, or the military.
The majority of Holy Family graduates attend a 4-year university and attain a bachelor’s degree. Universities offer a wide range of degrees, but the most common are business, communications, social sciences, and education degrees. According to Niche.com, which is a great resource for prospective college students to research universities and discover academic passions, 97% of Holy Family graduates go on to attend a university after graduating. Because college is such a popular option, Holy Family counselors are incredibly well-versed in the college research and application process, so do not hesitate to stop by and ask them any questions that come to mind about the subject.
The other three major post-high school outcomes are a bit less popular at Holy Family; so, they have a bit less data pertaining to them, but they are nonetheless worthy of note. The term “trade school” is an umbrella term for all vocational training. Trade schools typically include hands-on training and specialized classes to prepare students for their chosen profession. Popular post-trade school professions include chefs, electricians, paralegals, and welders; although there are hundreds of topics available.
Joining the military fresh out of high school is a valid option for a fruitful career that entails a significant commitment, but has the potential for a plentiful reward. Every branch of the military accepts able-bodied people aged at least eighteen years, but each has their own requirements for admission. Joining the workforce after high school is also a valid option, as well as a great way to build a professional resume, get real-world experience, and to make money.
Holy Family does a wonderful job at preparing its students for whatever step they take after graduation. Whether it’s university, trade school, the workforce, or the military, Holy Family supports its students in mind, body, and spirit so that they are ready to face the future.
