On Sunday May 17, the Class of 2026 wrapped up their high school careers. Holy Family put together a beautiful graduation service and Mass to honor all the hard work that they have put in. We encourage everyone to reach out and congratulate the new graduates.
To start the day, president Mr. Brennan gave an eloquent introduction to the ceremony. He gave great advice to the graduates: “Faith has never, ever been about certainty. Faith is about trust.” This message will continue to ring true in all of our lives. It’s important not to back down when things don’t go to plan, but trust that God has a goal for us.
The Baccalaureate Mass was led by Bishop Izen and our own Fr. Aric. The graduates helped to run the mass by singing in the choir, giving the readings, and working as Eucharistic Ministers. The Bishop gave a Homily about the importance of going out and sharing the mission of Jesus Christ. This served as a great reminder for the graduates to continue to do the work of God as they move all across the country for college.
Mr. Brennan returned to the stage to award Zachary Sevcik and Grace Anseth with the Ambassador of Christ Awards. Both Sevick and Anseth truly embody what Holy Family Catholic High School represents. They are beloved by teachers and faculty. These students are deeply rooted in their faith and are able to share that gift with others in the community.
The Commencement Ceremony began and brought with it many articulate speeches. Salutatorian Maleah Loots talked about the different ways that Holy Family has shaped her life. Loots said that she always felt welcomed in the community, not only by other students but also by the faculty and staff. She said, “It’s not just a hello at the door, but the small, consistent actions that make you feel like you belong.”
Valedictorian Grace Anseth’s speech revolved around how Holy Family’s fire mascot perfectly represents the school and the student body. She used fire as an acronym to describe the school. F was for fuel, which came from the support of family and friends. I stands for Ignite. The spark of the fire comes from the tremendous teachers and staff at Holy Family. The R stands for radiate. Between the support from parents and the guidance from teachers, students are able to embrace their abilities and share them with the world. Lastly, E was for embers. All of the graduates have been shaped by the Holy Family Fire and are ready to take those talents out into the world.
Finally, the Class of 2026 took their last walk as high school students. They crossed the stage one by one and, at long last, received their hard-earned diplomas. We want to thank the Class of 2026 for all that they have done for the Holy Family community. Their impact will truly never be forgotten.
