Welcome to Holy Family, Class of 2024

Introduction

Hi!  My name is Abbey Fink, and I am a senior at Holy Family.

Over my four years at Holy Family, I have been a part of cross country, basketball, and track.  I have also participated in Honor Society, Lasallian Youth, Latin Club, and Math League.

I wanted to be the first to welcome you to the Class of 2024.  Your time at Holy Family is going to be awesome!

What do you remember about the first day of school?

I remember being really nervous about the first day of school.  I went to middle school at Chaska Middle School East and only knew a couple of people going to Holy Family.  To my surprise, I met so many new kids from different schools and cities.  While it took some time to acclimate, the orientation leaders and upperclassmen really made me feel welcome and slowly but surely, I started coming out of my shell.

Now that I am about to graduate, I look back at my four years at Holy Family and am so grateful for all the amazing memories and friendships I have made.

What do you love about Holy Family?

While there are many reasons I love Holy Family, I wanted to tell you about just a few of the reasons why I love Holy Family so much.

Athletics

Athletics were a great way for me to meet new people and participate in some of the sports I love.  As a freshman, it was nice walking down the hall and seeing people from some of the sports teams I was involved in.  Not only are athletics a great way to be active, but it is also a great opportunity to forge lasting relationships with underclassmen, upperclassmen, and coaches.

Academics

The rigorous academics at Holy Family allowed me to develop my passions and values.  I know I will leave feeling extremely prepared for college.  Teachers here really care about their students and it is nice being a part of small classes, where every teacher knows your name.  The personal attention I got from teachers was outstanding; there are countless times where I have stayed after school well past 4:00 pm and teachers stayed with me until I got the help I needed.  I am also super excited with the new additions Holy Family is making to their curriculum such as an expanded foreign exchange program, Canvas, and May Term.

Faith & Service

Faith and service has also been integral to my experience at Holy Family.  I have really enjoyed learning more about my faith and being exposed to new perspectives through my religion classes.  Starting and ending the day in prayer and having the ability to attend mass daily, has allowed me to deepen my faith.  Similarly, the service experiences I have been a part of at Holy Family have been incredible.  It has been extremely gratifying and fulfilling to be able to serve others.  Whether it is volunteering to serve at Simpson House or FurniShare, there are so many opportunities for you to make a positive impact on someone else’s life by sharing just a little bit of your time.

Advice

One final piece of advice I would give you is to get involved and take advantage of the opportunities Holy Family provides.  Time really does fly, so join a club, participate in athletics or the performing arts, branch out, and serve others.  Lastly, do not be afraid to ask for help.  The teachers here care about you and will bend over backwards to help you succeed—all you have to do is ask.

Final Thoughts

I could not be happier with my decision to attend Holy Family and know you are going to love it too!  I wanted to leave you with some of my favorite memories at Holy Family:
